Labour Councillors
Putting residents first
In the Labour Party we believe in putting people before politics and we expect our councillors to serve residents first and political interest second when taking hard decisions. We believe in joined up government, so you will never find us saying one thing at a local level and another at a national level. We will interpret Labour Party policy to fit local circumstances and requirements. You may not always agree with what we do but we will be able to explain the principles and rationale behind our actions.

I live on the border of Eastleigh with my wife and our six children. Our older children were educated at Barton Peverill College and the younger ones are in primary and secondary schools.
I am a supporter of Eastleigh Football Club and Southampton FC where my son is a season ticket holder. My interest in local football goes back to 1999 when I was proud to sponsor Bishopstoke football team.
My first connection with Eastleigh and the surrounding area started in 1998 when I opened an Indian fast food business (The Mystery in Fair Oak), and recently I’ve bought a share in another business in Leigh Road. My family and I have been in the fast food trade at various times since 1989 in Southampton, Thornhill, Totton, Sarisbury Green and Bishopstoke.
Away from my working life I have always enjoyed being involved in community work, helping out wherever and however I can, and have been involved with a number of voluntary organisations. I am currently Chairman of Amity International Aid, a registered charity that helps the community here and abroad, and am Overseas Affairs Secretary to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party UK. I have also organised many job and adult educational related courses for the local community in Southampton and surrounding areas.
I joined the Labour Party when Tony Blair became leader, and actively campaigned during the 1997 General Election for John Denham and Dr Alan Whitehead.
I have been Campaign Organiser/Press Officer for Eastleigh Labour Party and am currently Ethnic Minority Officer. I also stood as a candidate for the Old Netley and Bursledon ward in May’s Eastleigh Borough Council elections.
I believe that we are all here for a purpose and we must fulfil that purpose. My priority is to help our community and assist the people who need help by making sure their voices are heard. I care deeply about education, jobs, and the NHS (both locally and nationally). It is disturbing to see the government cuts that are affecting our neighbours, particularly the elderly, and I’m determined not to let all these cuts happen without a fight.
That’s why I joined protests against the closure of Sure Start Children’s Centres in Eastleigh and Winchester, and the closure of libraries in the borough. I was there with residents objecting to the planning application for fast food outlets on the site of the old Civic Offices and Magistrates Court in Leigh Road. I support the renationalisation of the railways, the junior doctors, keeping medical facilities on the Moorgreen Hospital site, Whilst appreciating the need for truly affordable homes within our community I am concerned about the destruction to our countryside and increased pressure on local infrastructure by major developments locally. i campaign against destructive development that will see major development north of Bishopstoke and Fair Oak endangering our precious countryside.
I feel strongly that if you want to make a difference and really help the causes you believe in you have to stand up and fight
